We spent the last two days skiing in Big Sky, Montana. A highlight of the trip is the drive through Yellowstone and Island Park, made all the more beautiful by the abundant snow.

A small flock of partridges lives in the canyon above my house. Lately, they have gathered on the hill outside my office window, where I watch them make tracks in the virgin snow and glide down the slope on their bellies.
