Manhattan

We spent a delightful weekend in Manhattan, but I took my favorite photograph just outside Yellowstone Park in Montana. On our way home, weather delays caused us to miss our connection to Idaho so we flew into Bozeman, Montana instead. The drive home on Monday was beautiful.

I believe I now hold the record for spending the most money to see Spamalot on Broadway. I dutifully went to pick up my Will Call tickets on Saturday morning only to find out the tickets had been for the prior evening’s performance. Knowing how disappointed Camden would be, I bit my lip and bought two more tickets for the Saturday evening performance. Of course, I wouldn’t have been at the Will Call window if I hadn’t accidentally thrown the original tickets in the trash after mistaking them for junk mail.

I saw this fascinating Paul Norguet designed chair at MOMA. And to think you can buy one just like it for only $13,000.

Once again I confirmed one should only fly into Newark if the tickets are free (which they were). Otherwise pay up and fly into LaGuardia. The tram/train/subway trip from Newark to Manhattan just takes too long and the broken escalators mean hauling luggage up numerous flights of stairs.

LaPriel's uncle passed away while Camden and I were gone. LaPriel and I attended the viewing last night. I keep reflecting on something her newly widowed aunt told us as we stood by the casket.

"The loneliness stays with you even when others are around."

I admire people who speak from the heart.

The chair's shadow itself might be worth $13K, no?!

Great photo. I really have the need right now to see (and feel) some fall foliage.

I'm sorry about LaPriel's uncle. Her aunt said it best.

Spamalot touring show is going to be here in November. I'm trying to convince Al he would like it and to go see it with me.

I am very sorry to learn of your loss... I don't have any words of wisdom to impart - we never do get over the loss of loved ones, do we.

My warmest condolences.

PS: Someone'd need to pay me to allow that chair into my home. What an eye sore!

Thanks Simmons, Kelley and DC.

Kelley, one really needs to like Monty Python to go see Spamalot. The story line follows their Holy Grail movie much closer than I would have thought so there are few surprises as far as plot is concerned. Additional humor though.

Well DC I wouldn't suggest a whole dining set of those chairs, but one tucked in the corner of a post-modern home might be interesting if it wasn't so expensive. Doesn't sound like you have a post-modern decor.

Unfortunately, at my place people can tell that someone with severe DID did the decorating.

13,000 seems a lot of money for that rainbow coloured thing, but a lot of Taiwanese people would spend about that amount for a(n even uglier but) useful massage chair!! My Grandmother actually has one that costs more - Japanese-made. It's ridiculously ugly. :-(

Wow. I don't think I would spend $13,000 for any chair unless it came with an engine and wheels.

I love the chair! I like how the light plays through it. Cool techniques used to make it. Thanks for sharing; looking is free! Nice aspen shot. Trees are all turned here too. This is my favorite time of year. My kids used to watch Holy Grail with friends at my house. I never liked the movie that much, but cracked up watching them. They knew all the lines and recited them together. Would be fun to send them all to the play together!

Yes, Blu, you have to be in the right mood to enjoy Monty Python.
