French Musings

Roses in Amboise
There are some places where one just feels at home. My overseas travel has not been comprehensive, but of the countries I’ve visited (Australia, Korea, Switzerland, Italy, England, the Netherlands and France), I feel most comfortable in France.
It is difficult to describe, but the French people just feel as if they are at peace with themselves. They seem genuine.
We flew into Amsterdam today and while the city is gorgeous, the shops are inviting and Breanna and I have had a blast riding our rented bikes all over the town, the tension level seems higher. Tempers appear shorter.
I could be totally off base, but it is just my initial impression.

I've always felt so, too. I think their social structure affords them a lot of such liberties.
At the same time, particularly in Paris, I think being "genuine" can be a tad too much at times. Esp. when one's already having a bad day.
I suppose balance is always important. But I must say, I share your view, JD.
PS: Your recent posts on France are wayyyy better than the hypontist's work on "curing" my aviophobia.

Sounds like you are having a wonderful time, and the photos are wonderful. I loved seeing the photos that Breanna took.
I'm adding Paris to my list of places I'd like to go. I think it's gotten a bad rep by a lot of people, so I want to find out for myself.

Hey J.D., this is off-topic, but have you seen this blog:

Some similarities with yours, I think.
Best,

Thanks Simmons. I looked at his site. He could be a twin. On another note, the Terrain.org article should be done this weekend.

Sorry for the late response Kell and DC. Somehow the notifications of your comments got thrown in my spam bucket.
DC, I am humbled to admit I had to look up the word aviophobia. Now that I know what it is, I hope it is cured soon. Your sort of landlocked where you are and Machu Pichu beckons.
Your right Kell, always better to make up your own mind on some of these places.
